The five key elements of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust Charter are
- Nurturing faith, Christian spirituality and Gospel-based values;
- Promoting partnership;
- Excelling in teaching and learning;
- Creating a caring school community;
- Inspiring transformational leadership.
We are part of the Edmund Rice Trust which has 96 schools in Ireland. The Trust supports all staff and stakeholders in line with its Charter.
Our schools are Catholic schools which promote a Christian concept of the world with a spiritual and moral values system that contributes to the good of society as a whole. Our role is to support our schools and their students, teachers, principals and voluntary boards of management, members, directors and staff in line with the values of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust Charter.
Our schools promote equality of access and participation – in other words, children of any faith, or none, at every level of ability, of any nationality or ethnic grouping are all welcome in our schools. All of our schools are encouraged to recognise the uniqueness of each individual in caring communities where holistic development is nurtured.
The Edmund Rice Schools Trust is a vibrant schools Network that is developing and supporting Catholic education throughout Ireland today.
Book Rental Scheme
CBS James Street operates a book rental scheme for all students. Booklists are circulated in Term Three for the coming academic year and subject departments have a chance to discuss requirements. Some class rooms have class sets of various textbooks available for student use – further details from subject departments. Where textbooks are available students are allowed to leave their copy of the textbook at home. This is an attempt to reduce the weight of student school bags.
